We've recovered from the Amish incident in our last show, and we're ready to begin Baconsale season three! And, once again, we're starting off the new season with our best and worst movie picks from last year. Kent picks movies that were released in 2016, and Joel picks movies that he watched for the first time during the past year, which may or may not include films actually released in 2016. Episode 87: Christmas Showdown - Die Hard vs. Lethal Weapon

On this week’s episode, Baconsale takes on two of the greatest '80s action flicks of all time: Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. However, we’re not discussing which film is better. Instead, Kent and Joel are debating which movie is more Christmas-y. They’ve each picked a side, they’ve done their research and they’ve taken notes on all of the Christmas music, all of the Christmas decorations, all of the Christmas themes and all of the cocaine the looks like snow. Kent gets a little mainstream, Joel gets a little emotional and now it’s time for you to have yourself a merry little podcast.

We don't want to grow up, we are Toys R Us kids! And in this episode we're talking about our favorite toys, trinkets, playthings and, yes, even dolls from our childhood. Kent and Joel have created a list of their top five favorite gifts they received in the 80s and 90s, as well as the presents they wish Santa had given them -- while Jacob's mind is blown that there were things other than sticks and rocks for children to play with back then.

Episode 85: Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings (with Brandon Mull)

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Baconsale decided to take on one of the biggest sci-fi/fantasy debates ever: Star Wars versus Lord of the Rings. However, we knew that we couldn’t bear the burden of this geek culture topic alone, so we formed a fellowship with Brandon Mull, New York Times bestselling author of the Fablehaven, Beyonders, and Five Kingdoms book series. Together, we will host a series of mini-battles, such as box office numbers, critical reception, acting, musical scores and even the attractiveness of the cast for both franchises. We will declare a winner for each round, and then, in the end, we will declare an ultimate winner between the science fiction blockbuster and the ambitious adaptations of J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels.

Episode 82: Fictional Political Discourse

The time has come for us to discuss politics…in our own Baconsale way, that is. And since we don’t know that much about actual politicians, Kent and Joel are each campaigning for fictional characters they picked from film and television. They’ve grouped these candidates into two groups: best president, best vice president and best first lady as well as the worst president, worst vice president and worst first lady. Not gonna lie, it gets pretty geeky at times.

Also, you can rest assured that during this episode we will not even mention the names of certain real-life presidential candidates that we’re all tired of hearing about lately. We swore an oath.
